Lesson #1

Overview:

• SWBAT to identify key facts about a state's history of route 66, use secondary sources to research about a state's history of Route 66, communicate about a state's history through technology, and convert mileage and prices across time through collaborative group work. The students will be conducting research on Illinois given specific group roles. They will be playing a connection game, discussing the importance of connections, filling out a KW chart, reviewing credible sources, making a slide show, and vocabulary review.

• Equation for figuring out travel time: Time (hours)= Distance (miles) /Rate (mph)

• Drivers: You will have to figure out the gas prices in 1950's through your own research, remember what a credible source looks like
