"The distance between dreams and reality is called action"

Azhagiya Adyar was one such event. It was one of a kind program 5 years back, to kick start the solid waste management initiative in Kasturba nagar. A group of like-minded, environment conscious citizens got together in the year 2018 to make waste management a reality and are still striving hard to achieve a 100% source segregating community as a model for the rest of the city.

The event was organized to kickstart Source Segregation, and featured speakers from NOF and Namma Bhoomi. There were also engaging stalls showcasing eco-friendly products and various composting techniques.

It had tremendous response from residents across Adyar participating in multiple activities and interesting sustainable product stalls. Games and activities for kids on the subject of waste management and environment had a very good response. Experts from the field gave a brief on source segregation and composting. Active SWM volunteers  across Zone 13 were enthusiastic in taking this forward in their communities too. The then waste management contractor Ramky enviro and representatives from GCC were present and graced the occasion. 

Azhagiya Adyar was a successful awareness event leading to implementation in the coming months with active participation from community.
