Patterns

Patterns is the general term for any sort of markings that go on top of coat colors.

Any patterns labeled [WIP] are importable just do not have example art yet!

Tier 1 Importable

Sock- (sk, SK)

Sock is a simple gene, adding knee height blocks of color on the dragon. dominant extended version can show as unnatural colors, while the traditional version can only show as natural colors. The transition can be solid, or blended. See the black legs on a bay horse

Illiad (La LaD)

coming from the eye, a dark splotch that spans up to the shoulder that is bordered by a soft white. Can be shown less than this, and extended.

Grotto (gTT)

White underbelly with bands of tan, yellow, or brown within.

Iynk- (Iy IYy)

Blotchy dual toned pattern that covers some of the body. will always be darker than the base coat or a similar color to the base

Heatmap- (hMa)

Centralized on the head, heatmap has a maximum of 3 bright colors. Should have soft edges. When extended can have more than 3 colors, and show on different areas of the body.

Merle- (mer MerL)

Blotches of similar color stretch on the topline of the Rhaigon. Comes in layers, having a maximum of 3 colors. Colors should be similar to eachother and similar to the base coat.

Banding (Bd, BD)

Banding creates solid lines of color horizontally or vertically on a Rhaigon.

Bd - banding must be a lighter or darker than the base coat.

BD - banding can be an unnatural color.

Kott (Gk, GK, KG)

Black patches of color on the Rhaigon. Related to koi and gretta.
Gk- normal expression

GK- large, sometimes erratic patches of black.

KG- Rare inverted form of kott, allowing for the whole rhaigon to be solid black with cutout windows to the colors below.

Spill (pL, PL)

Many loose fluid patterns flow over the coat of Rhaigon. Similar to an acrylic pour painting, always has a black boarder or background on the dragon. Examples WIP, images from unsplash

Stained (Stt, STT)

Stained adds a blended patch of color to the back of the Rhaigon, leaving the underside to be the original color.
Stained should be at a lower opacity or a blending layer to let the details of the coat below show through, and can be any color as long as its not super bright or neon.
Stt - topside coloration only
STT - full body color stain, or larger coverage. **Can not be imported**

Dipped (DP,Dp,dp)

Dipped is a variation of agouti present on only the mane. this means that the individual hairs on the rhaigon have multiple bands of colors present.

Dipped is present on all mane/ tail hairs, unless affected by other markings. Always shows underneath markings & patterns.

Can be lighter or darker than the base color, natural toned, with variations in hue.

If mane is not naturally colored; use a lighter or darker version of the base color, with slight variations in hue.

Dom/ DP expressions; up to 3 different "bands" of colors (see agouti rabbits, ex. white> grey> brown)
Dp expresses in any of the max (yellow) to min(red) ranges.

dp expreces in orange to min (red) ranges.

Tier 2 Importable

Ghoul (Ghh, GHh, GHH)

Ghoul has 2 major expressions, but will always turn the Rhaigons eyes True red, and the mouth dark (like a chowchow dog) and the teeth blackened.

Ghh - minimal dark markings around the eyes and mouth of the dragon.

GHh- dark markings can exceed past the face, and affect the whole body of the Rhaigon. Some lightening of the Rhaigon can happen too. Please take creative freedom with this!! the base coat and patterns can appear under or on top, but should be incorporated or remain visible.

GHH - ?

Scaled (Scc, ScC)

some scale like patterns can cover the body. Can appear as a darker or lighter color than the base coat, with up to 2 tones. Cannot cover full body, cannot be extended.

Metal (mtt MtT)

**can not be imported with starter imports** Recessive (mtt) will show as cracks or veins of a metal, normally silver, gold, bronze, etc. Dominant (MtT) can show up as larger patches of pattern, and as rarer metals like bismuth. Extended metal can cover the full body, and tint the color of the metal to other colors. Generally metal can also have a similar vibe/ look to death metal fonts, although they shouldn't actually say things but can totally appear like that shape.

Tinsel mane

Tinsel mane is an optional expression for when metal & dipped show up in the genes together!

the typical metal markings can also be shown with tinsel, but it overrides the effects of dipped.

the metal chosen must match the markings

Bicolor (mtt MtT)

bicolor is a white pattern that is unlike other patterns. always stemming from the underside of the dragon, it reaches up across the Rhaigon.

can have textured or soft edges, should NOT be overly blended or gradiated. typically shows as hard edged!

can be broken up, should not appear as broken as horse like white markings (paint, sabino, etc.)

white should be relative to the hue of the base color/coat, can be off white with minor hue variations.

can display under, or over markings.

Appaloosa [leopard] (AP1,Ap1,ap1 )

Displays just like horses with leopard appaloosa.

can have textured or soft edges, should NOT be overly blended or gradiated.

can be broken up, should appear just like leopard appaloosa in horses.

white should be relative to the hue of the base color/coat, can be off white with minor hue variations.

can display under, or over markings.

white affects mane, does not affect eyes, and mottles the skin.

genetics & expression breakdown;

appaloosa genes in rhaigon show up similarly as horses, with different genes displaying with numbers to differentiate between types of appaloosa. these carry on equally in breeding (50/50 chance between one or the other type of appaloosa). dominance dictates expression range.

each different coverage can express lower than their general maximum range. (dom can display as a small patch, etc.)

ap1 ; third example, blanket coverage & smaller

Appaloosa [snowcap] (AP2,Ap2,ap2 )

Displays just like horses with snowcap appaloosa.

can have textured or soft edges, should NOT be overly blended or gradiated (like roan).

can be broken up, should appear just like snowcap appaloosa in horses.

white should be relative to the hue of the base color/coat, can be off white with minor hue variations.

can display under, or over markings.

white affects mane, does not affect eyes, and mottles the skin.

Tier 3 Importable

Psyxh (Psx, PSx, psX)

Psyxh is a mutation related to iynk, although mimicking the rorsarch tests done commonly in psychology. Generally the patterns are a bit unpredictable, and always mirrored on both sides of the Rhaigon. Colors are generally dark in color, especially on recessive showings. Recessive (Psx) can show as a maximum of 3 similar, desaturated colors, limited to a small- medium portion of the body. Dominant (PSx) can have a maximum of 7 colors, being more saturated. The colors should still flow together well and be kept cohesive. Can cover a majority of the body. **can not be imported with starter imports**

Nixt (Nxt, NxT)

**can not be imported with starter imports** Nixt is a layered, feather mimicing pattern that normally covers the head or topline of the Rhaigon. The colors are bright, and often boardered by darker colors. The marking should look layered and like feathers. this marking does not actually make the coat into feathers! Nixt can also mimic patterns of real life birds. Recessive (Nxt) shows as a max of 4 colors, at least one of which being dark. Dominant (NxT) can show a maximum of 7 colors, at least one of which should be dark.

Incandescent (InC, Inc, inc,)

Incandescent mimics string lights faintly glowing and lightly draping across the body of the dragon.

can be any hue, pastel-ish in value.

the "lights" can mimic different shapes, hearts, stars, moons etc. BUT should be displayed as natural shapes (i.e if an animal has a heart shaped marking irl).

edges of the "light" should be mostly solid, with a faint glow of light around it. light can bleed off the lineart slightly to show the illumination.

appears on top of all other markings.

inc; up to mid expression (orange) max 1 color

Macabre - MCr, Mcr, mcr (new!)

Macabre is a unique patterning, related to Ghoul in some ways.

This pattern is inspired by gothic makeup, corpse paint, macaw birds, etc. feel free to be creative with this gene!

Macabre presents typically, as a striped, bold black pattern across the face, neck, and chest of the Rhaigon. It will always turn the hair/mane black, and is backed by a white blended pattern underneath. Special eye colors can be used.

Unlike ghoul, macabre does not darken the mouth or teeth color of the dragon.

Macabre can appear under all other genes, but typically presents over all other genes. Black patterning can be inspired by unnatural patterns or shapes, but should be adapted to appear natural. Alongside this, the white area can slightly break the white rules and be a cooler, ghostly hue regardless of colors present on the Rhaigon.

MCr, Mcr, mcr respectively effect expression range. Macabre can be extended.

Tier 4 Importable

Jove (JoV)

A more complex pattern, Jove is bright swirling, smoky inner pattern boardered by dark boarders. The pattern can be broken up in smaller sections, and have many shapes, but the color will always be boardered with grey to black colors. The inner part of Jove can have soft or hard edges between patterns, looking airbrushed, painted, or solid. The inner part of Jove has 2-3 colors. Jove can be extended, allowing for more than 3 colors in the smoke. **can not be imported with starter imports**

Starburst (SB,Sb,sb)

starburst is a unique gene creating comet like patterns on the rhaigon. they trail in a single direction on the body, with a glowing look. these patterns do not emit light.

starburst can appear anywhere on the rhaigons body, typically with 2-8 different "comets"

SB - dominant expression, multiple colors/hues allowed in a comet.

Sb - typical expression, single colored.

sb - recessive expression, there may be less starbursts or they might appear dimmer than other expressions.

slight variation in hue in one commet is okay due to the glowing effect, noticeable hue differences are only apparent on dominant expressions.

Tier 5 Importable
