Freemarks and Anomalies are genes that are not tied hereditarily to Rhaigon, instead they are mostly, randomly inherited.
Freemarks can be added to ANY import tier without using a pattern space, or added to ANY geno without any items.
Anomalies are randomly rolled through genos or added to imports with items. They are distinctly rare. Different from freemarkings, anomalies are more likely to be passed to offspring if a parent presents with one.
Anomalies are split into two types; Non Optional and Optional
Non Optional Anomalies are standard expressions, and cannot be opted out of unless with a remove it rune.
Optional Anomalies are often Defects, that seriously affect the Rhaigon in question. they are exceedingly rare and do generally impact the function of the Rhaigon, hence why they are optional upon being rolled.
White that appears on legs and the face. See horse markings.
Should always have solid edges, and should never appear as another gene (appaloosa, roan etc.)
Will not affect eye color if overlapping.
Will turn skin pinkish and nails lighter. Will not mottle skin.
Max free white on no base example
See Bend-or spots on horses
Dark flecks or spots that appear on one or multiple parts of the Rhaigons coat, often looking like an oil stain.
Must have defined edges, soft or solid. Should not have mapping. Should be darker than basecoat.
Can be small flecks like fleabitten gray, or larger spots. Should never be larger than roughly the size of Rhaigons foot.
Marked spots & flecks on red example
Dapples affects various genes, but most notably adds subtle light spots, or dark webbing on the body of the Rhaigon. Most commonly shows on the barrel of the body.
Dapples on black example
Vitiligo is an often progressive "pattern" of lost pigment. See vitiligo in people, horses, etc.
Vitiligo will affect skin, hair, and claws, but not the eyes.
Vitiligo can be drawn as progressive or left as is on the design.
Often has mottled, or spotted look. Should always have hard edges.
Vitiligo ignores all "colored white" rules across other genes, and will be on top of any other gene except for chimerism.
Heterochromia is a color difference of the eyes, either laterally across the body or within the eyes themselves.
Heterochromia should never change just the sclera or iris (i.e heterochromia only affecting sclera for two colored eyes).
Heterochromia should never use eye colors unavailable to the Rhaigon. (i.e. rhaigon that only has acess to common colored eyes should not include other colors outside of that in heterochromia)
Heterochromia should never include more than 2 eye colors.
Expressions can be mixed and matched but should still obey the previous guidelines.
Complete - eye on right or left side is entirely a seperate color.
Central - Inner ring of iris around pupil is a different color.
Sectoral - part of an eye is a different color.
A patch on Rhaigon that turns "off" a gene.
The affected gene can be any shown on the rhaigon, or simply the basecoat. Somatic will only cut through ONE gene.
Must have solid edges.
A "marking" that displays another genotype alongside the typical one.
Originates from an absorbed twin.
The "second" geno does not affect breeding, and is limited to that of a T1 import.
Must have solid edges.
Painted is a unique Rhaigon anomaly, allowing for a handfull of markings to appear as non organic shapes or designs.
Affects: Chimera, Somatic, any white markings, Jove, Starburst, Metal, Nixt, Macabre,
Can have soft edges or hard ones.
Designs do not HAVE to be inorganic, this Anomaly might only affect the edges of the marking, or add a subtle unnatural shape to the marking, etc.
Optional anomalies are based on genetic "defects", although they do not have to be written as such. It is up to the artist and what kind of story they would like to write with their characters and if these chosen anomalies cause a Rhaigon to not be able to participate in specific activities, or if they give other health problems.
Please be respectful!
Intersex Rhaigon have a mixture of gendered anatomy.
These Rhaigon can be functionally one sex, both, or infertile, this is up to the artist.
Rhaigon is born entirely or partially hairless. Patterning of hair is random.
Hairless Rhaigon are often more suceptible to extreme temperatures and sunburns.
Dwarfism is a genetic anomaly that causes the Rhaigon to be dramatically smaller than it should be.
Dwarfism is variable, displaying in different ways. Sometimes individuals just have shorter legs, other times their whole body is evenly "shrunk".
Dwarfism may affect the joints and mobility of rhaigon, as well as complications internally.
Gigantism is the opposite of dwarfism. Rhaigon with Gigantism are dramatically larger.
Joint, mobility, and organ issues may be present.
Extra limbs from absorbed twins appear on the Rhaigon.
Any extra limbs should never excede the amount of limbs that 2 rhaigon can make. (4 legs, 4 ears, 2 tails)
Limbs are often non benifitial, awkward, and non functioning. in rare cases limbs are fully functioning.
Rhaigon with extra ears may either be deaf, or have acutely sensitive hearing. (often to a painful degree)
Extra eyes can appear, although the secondary eye(s) often have poor sight.
Otherwise, Rhaigon with this Anomaly may have a more difficult time adapting to activities.
