This week I have basically finished everything, which I am very excited about. I replaced all of the placeholder dialog, and finished creating a UI that I really enjoy.
I am very happy with my progress. I think that creating satisfying UI and dialogue were both things that I was worried about, but I am happy with how they have turned out. I still would like to create more unique dialogue, but that can be something for a later date.
I also made some improvements with the sound and design of the start and game over screens. I think having a parallax background will be much more attention-grabbing for a gallery setting, so I am glad that I was able to implement that.
Hereditary- Ari Aster
Ari Aster is an American filmmaker known for his emotionally intense and visually striking horror films that explore themes of grief, trauma, and human vulnerability. He gained recognition with Hereditary and Midsommar. Aster’s meticulous attention to detail and ability to create tension through atmosphere have established him as a unique voice in modern horror.
What inspires me about Aster’s work is how he uses visual storytelling to evoke emotional tension and unease. I’m particularly inspired by the dollhouse-like framing in Hereditary. For my project, I’m interested in exploring similar techniques to create a sense of 'other'-ness.
