This week was mostly focused on creating visual elements for my project. I created multiple different sprites for the wife, and also updated all of my 3D assets. The changes to the 3D assets are a huge improvement over what I had, and I feel like they fit my intended vision much more closely.
I also implemented sound effects for certain actions. I also have an empty room sound effect constantly playing while the player is in the house. My brother created a theme for me to use on the start screen, so I implemented that as well.
I feel good about my progress. I think I will be able to complete every major goal of mine in these final weeks. I think that replacing the placeholder dialogue will be my next major priority.
I feel like I may struggle with the dialogue a bit. I don't want to create something that is too cheesy or heavy handed, so I will likely have many people help me proofread and edit. I'd really like it to end up being fairly realistic.
Anthem for a 17-year old girl- Broken Social Scene
Broken Social Scene is a Canadian indie rock collective formed in 1999 by Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning. The group features a rotating lineup of musicians, including members of bands like Metric, Feist, and Stars. Their music blends elements of post-rock, dream pop, and experimental rock, creating an emotional and textured sound.
Anthems for a 17-Year-Old Girl is a song that is incredibly inspirational to me. I find a great deal of inspiration in it's lyrics particularly. The feeling of losing who you once were and realizing that you've conformed to society is heartbreaking, and it's something that many people, especially women, feel. The message of conforming of over time is something I include in my project.
