This week I was able to add many finishing touches to my project. I was also able to export builds for windows and mac and test both versions.
I am very happy with the way my project turned out. I think it is a really polished project on its own, and I have many ideas and plans on how to improve it even further moving forward. I think that I was successful in conveying and creating my original idea and message, and I think there are many things about my project that are enjoyable and insightful. The reception I've received so far has been really positive, so I'm very satisfied.
Before the expo, the main thing I'd like to work on is creating more interactable objects that change depending on the wife. I'd like to really focus on giving the wives more unique and individualized personality and interactions. To do this, I also will probably have to adjust my 3D environments to account for more interactable objects.
Possibly in Michigan- Cecilia Condit
Cecilia Condit is an american video artist mostly known for her surrealist short film 'possibly in michigan. Condit’s work often explores themes of violence, femininity, and the complexities of relationships. She blends horror and dark humor to create unsettling narratives. Her films have a dreamlike quality, using vivid colors, eerie music, and surreal imagery.
Possibly in Michigan is a surreal short film created by Cecilia Condit in 1983. The film follows two women, as they navigate a suburban shopping mall while being stalked by a cannibalistic man named Arthur. Blending elements of horror, musical theater, and satire, the film explores themes of violence, power, and the dangers women face in everyday life. I believe this film was very ahead of it's time, not only with it's artistic elements, but with the moral and themes present.
For my project, I’m interested in capturing a similar unsettling and dreamlike tone. While Condit works primarily in video, I will be applying this style to an interactive video game. I’m particularly inspired by the sense of unease her work evokes, as well as the feminist themes present. I think her color scheme in her work is also similar to what I have in mind.
