Welcome to the RadhaRang Foundation.  The purpose of this mission is to help disadvantaged school children from rural villages in India.

Pandurang Sarnaik was known as Aba (the big brother) not only to his family, but to the entire community. Although of limited means himself, he was always helping his community of Kudaldeshastha Gaud Brahmins raising much- needed funds for Viddhya Vriddhi Samaj and Niradhar Anathashram. After working hard for 6 days of the week, Aba would go door to door with his receipt book to raise money for those who could not afford education or even essential needs. Philanthropy to him was a way of life, his karmayoga and his dharma.

Radhabai Pandurang Sarnaik was known as Aka (the big sister) not only to her family but to the entire community. Although she received only a second grade education, she was a voracious reader and a student of Adhyatma and Vedanta. A woman of few words, she was full of compassion and kindness for the less fortunate. She was a quintessential mother with unconditional love not only to her children but to everyone around. Selfless love to her was a way of life, her bhaktiyoga and her dharma.

The family of Radhabai and Pandurang has formed the RadhaRang Foundation to carry on the philosophy of Aka and Aba. RadhaRang has started its efforts in the village of Malgaon, Aba’s ancestral place.

In 2009, at a family gathering, a few of us reflected on how fortunate we were to belong to our family and all that our parents have instilled in us to make us what we are. We talked about what we can do to pass the lessons we learned from them on to our children and their children. Our mother, Radhabai was the epitome of selflessness and love for the fellow humans. Our father, Pandurang was a devout believer in hard work and pursuit of knowledge. Our parents believed in the principle of Noblesse Oblige, those who have been blessed with resources have a social responsibility to help others who are less fortunate. Thus was born The RadhaRang Foundation.

The RadhaRang Foundation (RRF) is dedicated to develop, support and expand programs that further the welfare of the society. The RRF will start its efforts in the Sindhudurg area, located in the Southwest part of the State of Maharashtra (a map is given below). This is where most of our extended family members originated from. The RRF projects may spread to other areas from this original epicenter of activities in the future. Examples of projects supported by the RRF include (but not restricted to) the following:

Education   

• Scholarship awards to the most meritorious high school students- boys and girls. 

• Need based financial support to students who cannot otherwise afford the educational expense 

• Provision of resources to enhance education such as books, libraries, computers, tutoring activities, virtual classrooms etc. 

• Development of vocational curriculum such as that related to farming, carpentry, handling of livestock, solar energy etc. Introduction to basic technology

• Promoting excellence in specific subjects such as Mathematics, Science

• Support and encourage scientific inventions at the school level

• Support higher education both based on merit as well as financial need 

• Building rooms for classroom, workshops etc.

• Enhance ongoing education programs at local schools/institutions

   Physical fitness   

• Building playgrounds for children of all ages 

• Sports competitions in various Track and Field activities 

• Developing fitness centers especially for women

Health maintenance

• Health camp for children and adults for physical examination and screening for hypertension, malnutrition etc.

• Cancer detection camp

• Enhance ongoing health care programs at local institutions

Social activities for all ages

• Singing program for seniors

• Drawing competition for children

Personality and skills development

• Debating competition          

Addressing social needs

• Improve living conditions for homeless senior citizens

• Financial support for  orphans

"The journey of RadhaRang has been very exciting so far. Together, we have laid a strong foundation and exciting future awaits us.  RadhaRang  simply wants to hold hands with the little wonders in the rural India to make that little difference in their life journey.. To create opportunities in their life in areas of Education, Sports, Health and Entrepreneurship, unleashing their potential to make them a great human being.  The Vision of RadhaRang is to have army of such  selfless human beings who in turn will give back to the society. That will decide the success of the RadhaRang Movement."
