I believe in working with students toward a successful outcome. As a first generation college student, I understand how balancing work, family and school can deplete our energy. Together, we can be inspired to reach our goals and our highest potential.

Module 1: Introduction to Theories: Welcome to CHDV 106, Child Growth and Development. In this course, we will be examining the major physical, cognitive, social, and emotional developmental milestones for children from conception through adolescence. Children go through many stages of development that is important for us to understand as parents, educators, and individuals who come across frequent interactions with children. There are many principles and ideas that underlies children's development that has been discovered through different methods of research, and theories that helps us understand the behaviors and experiences children may have.
Module 2: Genetics, Heredity and Childbirth: We will be gaining a much deeper understanding on how heredity shapes who we are, and what exactly is happening genetically during conception. We will also learn about childbirth. When preparing for childbirth, there are different types of child birth to consider such as vaginal birth, induction, or caesarian birth. After birth, children enter the world having to learn how to regulate their bodies, and get all of their nutrition through feeding.

During these changes, adolescents may have experiences that can have a major impact on how they view themselves, or treat others. Their is a link between physical growth and brain growth, and brain growth and moral reasoning.

It is very common for adolescents to pull away from their parents, and lean more towards their peer groups to form their self identity.
Module 12: Child Development Report: It is important to understand how children are impacted from the world around them. Children have no control over things that are happening on a macro level, but are greatly impacted by decisions and turn of events happening in the world around them.
