While the little ball on Cherubi normally hold nutrients needed to evolve these ones contain an infectious juice that causes any pokemon that eats it to become maddened. The cherubis themselves are actually not maddened, they go into dungeons to absorb the dungeon energy with their ball so that they can infect pokemon that try to eat it.

After absorbing the toxic nutrients from their berry, Cherubi falls to the same fate as the many pokemon they cursed. While they are now evolved they are also infected with dungeon madness. They are in their Bloomed form when inside of dungeons or areas with a high concentration of dungeon madness. Everywhere else they are in their Overcast form.
