This Pokémon uses its rock-solid egg as protection as it consumes the plumes of lava from active lava flows or other Pokémon such as Camerupt, expanding its body in the process. Their nests are often found in the perimeter of volcanic craters.

After breaking free from its egg shell, this Pokémon makes its home in active lava flows and volcanoes, consuming the lava and continuing to increase its size. Slarrge can also regenerate itself in a new lava flow if their old one happens to be cut off as long as a piece of the Pokémon still exists.
