Learn more about the history of Phantom Scouts
Phantom Scouts, established in 1969, started in the Toa Payoh district, before becoming a part of the South Area. Having an annual batch of 100 scouts, we have produced many Chief Commissioner awardees. Notably last year, we had 10 of us who attained this award - something prestigious that shows the dedication one has to scouting. They set the foundation for a few President Scout awardees.
Initially, the MSHS Scout Group was affiliated to the Catholic High School Scout Group.
The 2516 Maris Stella High School Scout Group was officially registered with the Singapore Scout Association on 23 February 1969.
Our formation certificate used to hang in the Scout Den.
However, our unit was invited to the Toa Payoh District's activity way before we were officially registered in 1969.
Then Group Scout Leader (GSL) was Mr. Lee Jian Zhong 李健中, a businessman.
The activities were managed by then Deputy GSL Mr. Foo, who was the school clerk.

The Scout group's training materials and group council meetings were all written in Chinese before 1972 due to government’s bilingual policy.
In the past, our scouting activities include lion dancing!
The name Phantom was used for the Venture Unit. The Phantom Scouts was started by the 1985 batch (Sec 4 graduates) of Marist scouts and the logo was designed by (刘建明 Roland Liew). They had chosen “Phantom” as it contains the meaning “来无影去无踪“ , denoting speed and seamless execution.
The round island cycling during the days of Covid, and the recent Kumano Kodo hiking trip in Japan.
This marked more than 40 years of scouting friendship for the 1985 batch, and they hope all Marist scouts will also treasure their precious time being together and forging a strong bond and brotherhood that will last their lifetime!
Tutu Cheer
The “Tutu Cheer” was originally created for the “Interschool Cheerleading Championship” in 1989.
The championship comprised of three categories: Junior College/Polytechnic, Uniformed Group and Secondary School. Participating teams were judged for originality and presentation.
The event was held on Sentosa Island. Seven teams took part in the Secondary School category and the MSHS Phantom Scout won second place (the team from Tanjong Katong Girls’ Secondary School won first).
