Goal:
Execute smooth, controlled glissandos between adjacent black pedals using the toe while maintaining legato.
Instructions:
Select the following stops on your organ:
Pedal: Octave 8 (Principal 8) and Choral Bass 4
Watch the demonstration video for the exercise and practice the technique as shown.
Keep the knees together.
Rock the toe to slide smoothly between black keys.
Maintain a clean legato connection—the sound should be continuous and unbroken.
Practice slowly at first, focusing on control and precision.
Use a metronome to keep a steady tempo.
Increase speed only when the glissandos are smooth and accurate.
Daily Practice Recommendation:
Practice for 5 minutes a day. Consistent repetition builds control, muscle memory, and confidence.
