This view depicts the bull gear on your right. It is 16' in diameter.
It is the largest gear that runs directly from the power shaft of the wooden water wheel.
The water wheel is on the opposite side of the wall.
The smaller black gear with iron cogs that meshes with the bull gear turns the wooden vertical line shaft.
When engaged with the above large horizontal gear, the power is then sent to the grinding mill stones on the second level of the Mill.
