Polk Mill

Roller Mills

Vertical Mill.

This Vertical Mill is call "vertical" because the hopper drops the grain into a set of mill stones that are vertical. Not the typical horizontal stones.

The vertical mill stones are much smaller in size as well as the typical horizontal mill stones.

Patent August 1, 1871

Another amazing. but opposite view of the "vertical Mill."

Not only can you see the hopper above the stone but also the drive shaft and mechanism that powers the stones.

Close up of the vertical mill mechanism that powers the millstones.

Again an historic roller mill. Here you are viewing the mechanics, gears, wheels and power that grinds the stones inside the wooden box

Three roller mills set side by side.
