Change log - April 2026 - Revision 5 release

• Navigation has been altered slightly (colors)

• Home changed styling

• 1(!) - Use of Force graph into a more memorable format

  • Removed 2b) Shooting at tires as it contradicts other policies and is not the common practice of the PD

  • Rewrote (c) - 1 - Use of M26C taser: Removed announcement from pursuit. Announcement can now be disregarded if previous force was used.

• 2 - Preface renamed to 2 - Introduction

• 2 - Introduction -> PLPD Rank structure entirely reformatted with up-to-date responsibilities and authorities of each rank

• 3 - Communications removed information that has since been made obsolete by updates (Automatic switching of units)

• 4 - Standard Operating Procedure added images of each SOP

• 4(a) - Traffic Stops added infographics and changed minor wording

• 4(b) - Road Traffic Collisions added infographics and changed minor wording

• 4(c) - Containment added infographics

• 4(c) - Containment:

  • Added new paragraph that prevents officers from blocking access to job NPCs

  • Added section in "Stay" for officers to keep their weapons out and ready in dangerous situations

  • Added when the default OIC should be overridden, so there's no potential situation where a regular Officer is in that position.

  • Added section for "Assisting the Officer in Charge", which defines limitations as to what officers can do on scenes, who are not leading the incident.

• 4(g) - Hostage Negotiations added images, added Hostage Rescue, removed "If all else fails go in"

• 4(g) - Hostage Negotiations:

  • Added passage about not interfering with the Officer in Charge whilst negotiations go on

  • Added third paragraph about when you can choose not to negotiate with the hostage takers

    • Added passage about OIC being able to disregard hostage negotiations inside PD.

      • NOTE: This policy may be subject to change and is currently being tested for viability

  • Some text replaced or merged with TFU Handbook

  • Overall text has been reevaluated and changed to fit common practices

• 4(h) - Warrants & Remarks added infographics

• 5 - Emergency Response & Pursuits added image not to drive on the wrong side of the highway. In fact it states it twice now.

  • Changed the text to make it shorter

  • Adjusted the text to be more applicable to current practices

  • Removed requiring supervisor permission to use force

• 6 - General Rules:

  • 6a) Jail and Punishment | Handling of Suspect - SUSPECT REQUESTING A SUPERVISOR

    • Aligned the policy with 9(j) - Supervisor Policy to explicitly state that suspects can be brought to PD

    • Renamed COMPOUNDING PUNISHMENTS to ENACTING PUNISHMENTS | ISSUING CITATIONS. Shortened the text, as the new systems do not easily allow for compounding to even happen without using law 3.10.

  • 6b) Conduct - Merged CONDUCT ON PLPD.ONLINE into CONDUCT IN TEAMSPEAK & DISCORD

  • 6e) Performance of Duties - WARRANT STRUCTURE:

    • Removed: "It is also important to specify if it’s a search warrant or if its an arrest warrant."

    • Added an additional example as to what a bare minimum arrest warrant is supposed to be structured like.

    • Changed the good example of a search warrant

  • 6e) Performance of Duties - NEGLIGENT PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES

    • Added into title DUTY OF CARE

  • 6d) Peaceful Policies - IDENTIFICATION OF OFFICERS | ANNOUNCING OFFICER PRESENCE

    • Added: "and/or private property (such as individual apartments)" to clarify that one should announce their presence before entering an apartment.

• 7 - Police Complaints has been formatted as collapsible elements for easier readability

• 9 - General Policies has been restructured to allow a quick insight as to what policies are relevant to what officers

• 9(a) Handbook & Division Specific Policies - Added to Policy 1.3 so the new images aren't policy binding

• 9(g) - Equipment: Removed Taser policy's content. References to 1(!) UoF policy now.

• 9(h) - Awards: Updated some information

• 9(i) - Observation reports

  • Merged information from 2022 OR guide into policy (previously linked as an external document)

  • Clearly defined the threshold for what is enough information to give an OR (2/4 skills assessable)

  • Added a non-exhaustive list of parameters where an OR may be deemed low quality

  • Added limitation as to how frequently ORs can be submitted by the same supervisor on the same officer

  • Added new policy paragraph (1.10) allowing training sessions to be performed instead of assessments of skill when doing ORs

    • NOTE: This policy may be subject to change and is currently being tested for viability

  • Added previously mentioned paragraph in 9(j) - 2(b) into 1.11 (Allowing supervisors to write ORs when seeing under/over performance)

• 9(j) - Supervisor Policy:

  • 2(a) - Title changed: Incident Commanding -> Officer in Charge

    • Policy has been changed to reference the 4(f) Incidents policy directly.

  • 2(c) - Patrolling with Lower Ranking Officers: added paragraph to follow the new 1.10 of the OR policy

  • 6(b) - Demotions: New addendum for supervisors to refrain from demoting government employees for falling asleep on the job, unless neccessary.

• Flipped the Changelogs from before, because why the heck were they upside down
