2.1 Any command or administrative role in the Police Department must be advertised to all members of the Department in the Careers tab on plpd.online.
2.2 The vacancy must be advertised for a minimum of 4 days before being closed.
3.1 Applicants must be discussed via TeamSpeak, Discord or Slack.
3.2 If a command role, the attendance of your whole team and your Line Manager is preferred, at the very least your Line Manager.
3.3 For administrative roles such as IA investigator or Training Officer, your command team is preferred, and does not need to have your Line Manager present unless they specifically request.
3.4 Applications are confidential, and therefore protected by the Data Protection and Confidentiality policy.
4.1 All applicants must have a fair chance and have equal opportunity, any sort of bias is unacceptable and conflicts of interest should be duly considered.
4.2 All applications should be created and logged through the PLPD Online careers system.
4.3 When making a decision on an application, the reason for why it was accepted/denied must be clearly written with detail.
4.4 All candidates must be informed via the careers system, regardless if accepted/denied, if denied feedback must be given if requested, it is preferred they are told why in the first PM informing they’ve been rejected.
4.5 Candidates must be fit and suitable for the role, i.e, no recent warnings or department disciplinaries (you reserve the right to background check them). Only warnings and bans given while on-duty should be considered unless very severe rule break.
4.6 All candidates who are applying for a position should not be offered the acting position to ensure everyone has a fair chance.
5.1 Promotions are only to be issued to Officers based on evidence that they are performing at the expectations of the new rank, and are not to be based on time spent at the previous rank.
5.2 Officers who have received any form of disciplinary action listed in the Disciplinary Action and Appeals policy are not allowed to receive any promotion until 30 days since the infraction was added has passed.
5.3 Officers who are currently under investigation by Internal Affairs may not be considered for promotion to a supervisory rank until an outcome for the complaint has been decided.
5.4 - Senior Officers and above may advance only one rank at a time. Additionally, they must serve 30 consecutive days in their current rank to be eligible for promotion. Individuals being promoted to Staff Sergeant or higher are exempt from this policy.
5.5 Officers must meet the rank requirements before a promotion. The Chiefs of Department reserve the right to authorize a promotion that does not meet all of the promotion and rank requirements.
6.1 Within certain circumstances, it may be requested from the Chiefs of Department to disregard this Policy.
6.2 Temporary removal of a rank or position is not allowed. Suspensions must be issued via the "Suspend" button on an employee's record.
