Minor Policy Change - May 27th 2026
When encountering, or responding to, an RTC, you must first secure the scene of the accident/collision.
Position your police vehicle appropriately in a fend off positions. Utilize your emergency lights to warn of oncoming traffic.
Get civilians off the road and to a safe location.
Set up cones or barricades to redirect traffic.
After the scene is secure, call for assistance.
If there are any injuries, call for EMS immediately. Ensure the EMS knows the exact location.
Call Roadcrew to clean up the scene of the collision.
(OPTIONAL) Call for a Road Traffic Officer to assist you at the scene. The RTO can also impound vehicles, should no roadcrew be on duty or respond. RTOs should wear their high-vis jacket when managing an RTC scene.
One officer should ideally remain on the scene to keep the area clear. This may be disregarded if the roadcrew has a long response and/or other ongoing incidents demand an immediate response.
When the road is cleared, clean up your barricades and cones.
Ensure that all your cones and barricades are picked up to avoid further accidents.
