Description: This rank is essentially the same as the Chief of Department, with exactly the same responsibilities, although without power to veto the CoD.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the entire Police Department
Adapt policies to the needs of the Police Department
Makes decisions on regulation of the department
Major matters or decisions are passed through the Chiefs of Department first
Authorities:
DCoDs can also take a majority vote to remove the Chief of Department if they are failing to perform their duties
Description: Major is the fifth supervisory role and the highest rank an officer can achieve within the PLPD. The commanding officer of Operations Services and Professional Standards uphold the rank of Major and are referred to as Line Managers.
Responsibilities:
Ensure their divisions and linked divisions operate correctly and in line with PLPD policies
Attend meetings with Chiefs of Department and the other line manager (Senior Management Team)
Provide support and guidance to divisions
Authorities:
Directly raise concerns with the Chiefs of Department
Audit linked divisions and their command members
Description: Captain is the fourth supervisory role.
Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee their assigned division
Ensure division operations follow PLPD policies
Keep their division's policies up-to-date
Recruit new command members
Assign tasks to command members
Ensure administrative roles within their division are recruited and these members perform their tasks

Power to veto any decisions made by their command members
Description: Lieutenant is the third supervisory role.
Responsibilities:
Manage and monitor their (sub)division
Directly assist Commanding Officer of their division
Authorities:
Remove any record entries on civilians' records where removal is justified
Policy Board member
Description: Staff Sergeant is the second supervisory role and a junior command member, which means they perform off-duty work.
The Quartermaster also falls under this rank.
Responsibilities:
Perform divisional duties assigned to them by a LT (or CPT) of their division
Authorities:
Authorities may be assigned individually per division or role within division
Manage division applications
Description: Sergeant is the first supervisory role.
Responsibilities:
Respond to supervisor requests; reviewing charges and handle officer complaints whilst on duty.
Ensure officers are correctly performing their duties
Authorities:
Access private civilian information: Owned vehicles
Issue warrants of all types
Issue reprimands or suspensions
Demote or temporarily blacklist government employees from job
Usage of the Police Broadcast System (/pbc) to alert the public of incidents (i.e. traffic collisions)
Search civilians' trunks
Description: Corporals are officers distinguished by experience and sterling conduct whilst on duty.
Responsibilities:
Lead or assist in incidents and situations
Handle misconduct when supervisors are unavailable
Patrol with lower ranking officers
Authorities:
Access private civilian information: Phone numbers
Issue Vehicle Stolen and Wanted for Questioning warrants
Restrain government employees, ranked lower than them
Change government employees' units, ranked lower than them
Issue Observation Reports
Archive records on civilians' records, provided there is grounds to do so
Description: Senior Officers understand a large majority of PLPD policies and can apply them confidently.

Set an example for junior officers

Access private civilian information: Owned properties
Search without explicit consent, provided a lawful reason exists
May get involved in other divisions such as the Tactical Firearms Unit, Internal Affairs and Human Resources
Description: Officers are new members of the Police Department who have passed the sign-up quiz and demonstrated they have a basic understanding of PLPD policies; the Paralake Penal Code and are able to handle themselves on their own.

Assist officers senior in rank
Authorities:
Issue remarks on civilians' records
Description: Probationary Officer is a form of corrective action given to employees that gives them the chance to prove themselves before a discharge. They can be identified as they have no hat.
Responsibilities:
Professional Standards will work with officer to try and get them back to a good standard
Limitations:
Limited equipment
May only patrol with a Senior Officer or above
