Friday and Saturday our winter track athletes competed in the NYSPHSAA Championship Meet at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island:
Freshman Mitayo Signorile ran with the Section 1 Intersectional Relay teak and helped them take 4th in the Federation and 2nd among Public Schools.
Sophomore Hannah Delaney placed 10th in both the Federation and Public Schools in the 1000m.
Our Boys relay team placed fifth.
Michael Dolinsky will be completing in the NYSPHSAA Championships March 13-14.
And finally, our girls basketball team defeated Ossining 46-44 in an amazing game to become Section One Class AA Champions! Casey Cummings received tournament MVP honors and, along with Rakiya Mohammed, made the All Tournament Team. We are so proud of the girls whose toughness and playing for one another led them to victory. Special congratulations to our coaching staff of Kervins Ferdilus, Jessica Bullock, and Tre Beaman who have done a fantastic job guiding this team all season.
We will play Warwick from Section 9 on Tuesday at 5pm at Yorktown HS. We are all so appreciative of everyone who came to support in person and those who were watching the livestream. The texts and communications received are greatly appreciated.
Special thanks to our cheerleaders who came along for this wonderful ride. Their presence and energy were so beneficial in such a close hard fought game.
If the girls win Tuesday, we would play Friday at Yorktown with a trip to the NYSPHSAA Final Four on the line. The State Championships are March 21-22 in Troy NY.
