Valentine’s Day baking sounds cute in theory… until you remember you’re tired, busy, and definitely not a professional baker. Luckily, Valentine’s desserts don’t need to be complicated to be good. In fact, the best ones are usually the easiest, quick to make, hard to mess up, and perfect for sharing with friends (or keeping for yourself).
Here are some of the best easy Valentine’s Day sweets that students can actually bake — plus simple recipes that won’t ruin your night.
1. Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies (But Make Them Valentine’s)
You really can’t go wrong with chocolate chip cookies. Add pink or red M&Ms, heart-shaped sprinkles; or, drizzle melted chocolate on top and suddenly they’re “festive.”
Why they work:
They’re familiar, comforting, and almost impossible to mess up.
Super easy recipe idea:
1 stick butter
½ cup sugar + ½ cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1½ cups flour
½ tsp baking soda
Chocolate chips or M&Ms
Bake at 350°F for 10–12 minutes
2. Box Brownies That Don’t Taste Like Box Brownies
Brownies are the ultimate low-effort Valentine’s dessert. One pan, minimal cleanup, maximum reward.
Upgrade tips:
Add chocolate chips to the batter
Swirl in Nutella or peanut butter
Cut them into heart shapes once cooled
Why they work:
They look impressive, even though they’re incredibly easy.
3. Pink Hot Cocoa Cookies
These are perfect for February and feel different without being complicated.
What they are:
Soft chocolate cookies made with hot chocolate mix, topped with marshmallows or a drizzle of white chocolate.
Why they work:
They’re cozy, seasonal, and way more interesting than regular cookies.
Easy recipe idea:
½ cup butter
½ cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
1 packet hot chocolate mix
½ tsp baking soda
Make sure to mix your dry ingredients and wet ingredients separately. Then mix the dry into the wet ingredients.
Bake at 350°F for 9–11 minutes
Optional: Add mini marshmallows on top right after baking.
4. Valentine’s Day Rice Krispie Treats
If baking feels like too much of a commitment, this is the move.
Easy twist:
Add pink food coloring
Use heart-shaped cookie cutters
Drizzle white or dark chocolate on top
Why they work:
No oven, no stress, and everyone still loves them.
