Have you ever wondered what happened to the students who once walked the same halls as you? “Where Are They Now” will be a three-part series that catches up with alumni whose stories continue to inspire and intrigue us. For this article, I reached out to graduates from different backgrounds who graduated in the past few years and are pursuing different career paths, inviting them to share their personal and professional journeys since graduating from Nyack High School.
Sincere Seward (Class of 2025)
“I’m currently attending Rockland Community College, and I am majoring in social and behavioral sciences. I am making great strides in pursuing my dream to become a professional therapist. I have been rigorously attending my classes while also working in a hospital. Managing both my academics and job has been challenging, but also rewarding and worth the effort."
“You have all the power you need to live the type of life you want; all you need to do is bring it out.”
Samuel Szerlip (Class of 2024)
“After graduating from Nyack High School, I went to the University of Chicago to study physics and wrestle. I am currently a second year here. This summer, I am working for a startup here in Chicago, helping improve nuclear fission by reusing the waste, which then, in turn, improves the efficiency of nuclear reactors.
“The best thing to remember is that even though you might feel underprepared or inadequate, wherever you go, so does everyone else, so don’t let that feeling be the thing that holds you back."
Daniel Chacko (Class of 2020)
“After graduating from Nyack, I had the opportunity to attend St. John’s University, where I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees. St. John’s was the perfect school for me and gave me so many great opportunities that I am grateful for. Since graduation, I’ve been working at an insurance brokerage where I help provide insurance for buildings in NYC. This role has been a good introduction to the industry, and I look forward to seeing where my career goes from here!
“If there’s one piece of encouragement I can provide to current students, it’s to always be open to new opportunities. You’ll be surprised where life may take you!”
