“I chose to participate in #FinishTheRun because to me, participating in events such as this one that will make even the slightest difference in the world of racial injustice, is what matters. Racial injustice and systemic racism have been prevalent in this country since it began but, there comes a time of realization in your life where you learn that your voice has the potential to be powerful. For me, the death of Ahmaud Arbery was that moment. It broke my heart and really opened my eyes to what was happening around me so, from that moment on, I vowed to myself that at every opportunity, I was going to use my voice and privilege to act and help those who may not have the same opportunities. I want to set an example for others and I want others to feel the same way as me. I feel it is my duty to try and make this world safer for those who face injustice every day, even if it means the smallest things like this run, but to me, doing this was a big and important step to create change.”
