Multi-Dimensional Evaluation of An Educational Board Game Using Real-Time Diagnostic Procedure Scaffolding: Analysis of Learners’ Learning Effectiveness, Flow, Anxiety, and Emotion
Introduction:
This academic article explores the effects of different types of scaffolding within an educational board game focusing on western food service. The research investigates the impact on learners' effectiveness, engagement (flow), anxiety, motivation, and emotions, comparing a mobile-enhanced game group, a standard board game group, and a video-only group. The authors analyze quantitative data gathered from university students, examining differences and changes across groups and learning stages. Overall, the findings suggest that game-based learning with scaffolding positively influences psychological factors like anxiety, motivation, and positive emotions, with mobile scaffolding potentially boosting motivation more immediately, though all groups showed improved learning effectiveness.
