Today, there are all different types of podcasts such as sports, politics, comedy, and story telling. One of the most popular sports podcasts and the most popular hockey podcast is the Barstool Sports hockey podcast Spittin Chiclets. The podcast was started in 2016 by Massachusetts natives. That includes current Barstool blogger Brian McGonagle also known as RA, former NHL player Ryan Whitney, and current Barstool producer Mike Grinnell.
After a short time on their own the Spittin Chiclets podcast was picked up by Barstool Sports. Grinnell and McGonagle were hired as full time employees. Then in 2018 Paul Bissonette, a close friend and former teammate of Ryan Whitney announced that he was joining the podcast as another co-host. Episodes are released weekly and each episode is about two to three hours long but time flies when you’re having fun and the Chiclets crew certainly has fun. During the episodes, they conduct interviews, discuss current hockey news, and share funny stories. Whitney and Bissonette are both avid golfers and have started the “Sandbagger Invitational '' where the two of them play a 2 on 2 golf match against former and current NHL players. It all derives from the excellent episodes filled with comedy, news and everything in between.
