The Cycle of Negative Thoughts
One type of person that everyone hates is someone who is never not complaining, someone who is never happy. We all know someone who chooses to see the worst in every situation and will always complain about how hard their life is. This type of mentality does nothing but bring down the individual and the multitude of people that they’re telling their life story to.
Now, that's not to say that everyone has to be happy all the time. Sometimes life has it out for you, and it’s perfectly ok to talk about how you feel to somebody. With that being said, if the only outlook you have on life is how bad it is and how everything sucks, then guess what, that's all you’re ever going to see. The cycle of negativity is such a hard one to break, but it is possible.
In order for someone to start the process of self-progression, one has to attempt to stop being so negative. Some of the most popular and efficient ways for someone to try to get into a healthier mindset are to get into working out, start meditating, journaling their thoughts or just simply getting out more and enjoying nature. I personally try to employ all of the previous methods listed into my daily life as much as possible to try to avoid the abyss of negative thoughts.
One of the worst examples of negative thoughts that can plague someone are insecurities. People tend to feel insecure about themselves for a multitude of different reasons that can’t be controlled or changed easily. The only way that most insecurities can be dealt with is through acceptance or hard work. It’s easy to get hung up on the problem and not work toward the solution. The key to not feeling insecure is to accept the things you cannot change and work toward the things that you can.
In an age where mental health seems to be in decline it’s important to learn and keep in mind ways to combat these toxic emotions. Negative thoughts directly affect an individuals mental health, someone can't expect to be in a good mental space when they are constantly putting themselves and others down. Judgement of others is directly related to judgement of yourself and if you want to be happy with yourself, you need to stop putting others down to do it.
Being overly negative has absolutely no positive effects on the mindset of the individual. The cycle of negative thoughts is a hard one to conquer but it is possible, it’s not an overnight process however. Like anything in life, it requires hard work in order to truly feel the benefits of finally not feeling like your own enemy.
