Mrs.Walsh a name mainly associated with Health and Wellness as well Early Education. Actually that’s only partially correct, you can associate her with her famous brookies, her warm welcomes, and amazing smile. Her class is where friendships are formed, knowledge is gained, and a place where your mind can relax. There’s never a day where you’ll see her students upset in her class, and if they are she’s always the person you can talk to about anything. Mrs. Walsh is always there for her students, no matter the circumstance.
Throughout the years, I’ve noticed how close we’ve gotten to Mrs.Walsh. Most of us have taken her class for all four years of our highschool career, and by now she’s know us very well, at least I hope she does. There are some points in the year where she can tell the whole class is stressed, upset, or even just tired. On those days she gives us almost no work, unless we go to placement, and that is something we definitely have to go to no matter what. I will never forget last year, when we had to take buses to placement. The bus driver complained about the bus being too disruptive, and I quote “the girls were trying to get the boys attention and were being very noisy”. When she read that aloud we were 1. Instantly offended and 2. It was the boys who instigated the arguments. Instead of being angry or upset with us she chuckled, and allowed us to tell our side of the story, she told us it would be out of character for us to behave so rudely. Ultimately taking our side, and to finish that story up the bus driver was completely different the next day…
Mrs. Walsh has undoubtedly created a bond between us most teachers don’t have with their students. As my friend says “she’s more like our mother than a teacher.” and most can agree that she has always gone beyond what she’s required to do for us as students. She always seems to pick the option of going out of her way for us other than the simpler option. During her long blocks and double blocks we are required to go to an elementary school and shadow/help teachers. Those who drive can get away with grabbing lunch from wherever they want as long as they make it back before their next class. Those who cannot and have to take the bus back usually miss their lunch, however to solve this problem Mrs. Walsh goes out and buys a lunch for them when they get back. She doesn't have to go out and buy them food, however she gets worried that some of us will not eat lunch. This shows how Mrs. Walsh is caring and not just for us but for others as well. Every year, Mrs. Walsh allows the elementary school kids to have a field trip at our school. We usually decorate and create activities for the kids to have a good time. It makes the hard work she puts us through worth it, in order to make the elementary schoolers day.
Aside from her caring self and her determination to make her classes happy. Last year Mrs. Walsh told us something along the lines of getting her surgery over with so she could definitely make it back to see her seniors graduate. It may seem very little, but to me and all the other seniors in my class, it really meant the whole world to us. Which is why I am so thankful to have met a teacher like Mrs. Walsh.
