"It is my imperfection that allows me to persevere and succeed against all cosmically calculated odds."
Inquisitor Rings are a dime a dozen in Chicago, given the major influences in the city. For what it's worth, the Atelier doesn't appear to care what they're labeled as, being a defense pact first and Agenda-driven second. Despite the blatant Tempter lifestyles of individual members, their Inquisitor nature is evident as a united entity, collecting information to better keep the Ring safe and aid members in their personal pursuits. The Atelier's de facto leader is one of the most scrupulous Paranoids in the state, while his partner knows that information is the linchpin of any project worth building. Philosophies aside, the Atelier is undeniably a gadgeteer Ring, made up of keen metaphysicists and those who'll carry their bags and keep them safe. As a result, their nests are feathered with both utilitarian objects of destruction and frivolous quality of life items.
FOUNDER: Klaus Graves & Seif Al-Qamar | TYPE: Ring | AGENDA: Inquisitor | STATUS: Active
owned by @frogtax, @dualscepters, and @tmkaleidoscope (player ring)
If reality is an endless tapestry, then the Symphony is the embroidery stitched upon it. Klaus is well aware of the parasitic nature of God Machine, Its creations, and the incomprehensible harm It does to him and those around him - and yet, he counters, our lives would be boring without a little bit of color, even if someone has to bleed for it. Perhaps the truth behind his nihilistic acceptance is that he knows that a life as entangled as his could never fully escape the Symphony, even if he wanted to. His existence, after all, comes down to survival and outliving all those who would harm him - and turning it back on them eightfold... or joining them, if that's what it takes to get a little bit of his much deserved restitution. Despite everything, he clings to the notion of being human as much as he rejects it, as perhaps the last bastion between him and a much darker path among the Gears.
Seif Al-Qamar has gripped life by the reigns and forcefully massaged his own situation into something he deems acceptable. With his liberty no longer provisional, his ultimate goal is nothing more complicated than wanting to ensure the continued comfort and lives of himself those closest to him, finally feeling as though he's allowed to live, rather than merely surviving. Compelled by this, and a hatred of those that prey on humans and pactholders like him, he has brought together a group of unlikely yet ultimately trusted allies in the wake of the Cabal. While aware that Adelram's defeat ultimately means nothing to the world, his fresh independence has given him a not-insignificant appreciation for the endless possibilities he can now pursue, and he fully intends to take up that space in the Symphony without shame.
Finally able to embrace freedom fully after 6-7 years of being trapped in the Midnight Cabal, King has established himself in the Chicago Symphony as a proficient mercenary and medic for hire, and finds that he truly enjoys his work. He's gratefully accepted being part of The Atelier after being asked by Seif, and while he may feel out of place at times for being somewhat estranged from one of the founders, King is perhaps loyal to a fault to the cause of his friends. As someone who genuinely enjoys being both part of the Symphony and part of the Mundane, he sees a path forward with the Atelier - one that perhaps has everything they all want together.
Asked to be a part of the Ring by Klaus Graves, Shengmei of course agreed without hesitation. The members of the Atelier have been responsible for turning Shengmei's life around in the past, having rescued him from the Red Fang and helped with the recovery of the scar on his face, and he intends to repay their kindness in turn. While he may come off as nervous and pitiful, it soon gives way to sarcasm and a distinctive attitude within the comfort of his friendships, and he's fully capable of defending himself and showing a startling amount of bravery. With this, he supports Klaus' goals whole-heartedly and earnestly, knowing that he would be entirely capable of making the split second decision to kill for him should it be necessary.
Having recently given up his fame and legacy by way of his 4th wishpact despite his status as a stigmatic, Cygnus is potentially the most surprising member to be a part of the Atelier, having formerly been the enemy of everyone within it. While also belonging to Faux Pas in a roundabout way, Cygnus seeks to reinvent himself, manifesting a fresh start in life away from the things that have endlessly troubled him. An ingrained hatred for demons and angels still pervades his attitude in everyday life, even after managing to make another wishpact, and more than ever he chooses to engage in a charade of superiority over those higher than him on the Symphonic food chain, which will no doubt get him in trouble one day.
