Summer of 2024. Emmie has continued to create art. She exhibits some of her work through her 4-H club at the Dallas County Fair. This year she received a purple ribbon for the painting described below. This meant that painting would be exhibited at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. Emmie's winning creation is a watercolor of fish. She painted the fish on watercolor paper. Then she used alcohol-fired ink on the glass. She was going for an effect of the fish looking like they were underwater--a little wavy and blurry. This technique was her own idea. The Dallas County fair judge thought it was amazing. At the Iowa State Fair Emmie's fish painting was awarded Second Place in the Visual Arts category. Congratulations, Emmie!
