Addison McGrew was born September 2, 1999 in Knoxville, Iowa. He moved with his parents to Livermore, California in the summer of 2003. Addison's earliest brush with art was rapid-fire applications of 3-4 pre-mixed paints to sheets of newsprint when the family lived at the Chardonnay Courts Apartments. His mother and grandmother were kept busy snatching a finished sheet of newsprint off the table and replacing it with a new blank page as the young artist speedily slathered those paints onto the paper. Occasionally everyone would take a break while a new suite of hues was mixed. Later at the Dover Way house Addison had his own drawing table equipped with fine-line ink pens. His dad Andy sat back to back with him and worked on his own drawings. This was about the time that Addison began playing his first video game. The intricate scenery of the video games and the cat-and-mouse adventures of the players informed Addison's drawings for several years. Lately design has been his interest.
Both drawings were done in 2019 with Mincho pigment liners on Five Star graph paper.
