This procedure outlines how to use the Plate Tracker, the process for authorizing state impounds, and releasing impounded vehicles.
When to Add: Any vehicle used in a crime, including but not limited to heists, jewelry store incidents, convenience store robberies, street races, and gang-related shootings.
Procedure: Check the MDT to identify the registered owner of the vehicle used in a crime by searching the license plate.
Tagging Vehicles: Once you have the vehicle's information (name, make, model), follow the Pinned instructions in the profile to tag a vehicle. All license plates must be correctly typed out to ensure easy searchability.
State impounds can be authorized by Command, High Command, Judges, or District Attorneys (DA).
The vehicle must be used in a crime and logged in the DMV profile. At least three logged instances within 21 days are required.
In the case of a DOJ member (judge or DA) requesting or having a warrant for a vehicle, it can also be added to state impound.
The time and cost of impounds are at the officer's discretion, generally following a progressive pattern:
1 Day: $25,000 Fine
7 Days: $50,000 Fine
14 Days: $75,000 Fine
21 Days: $100,000 Fine
30 Days: $150,000 Fine
Only Lieutenants, Captains, and High Command members can release impounded vehicles.
The vehicle can only be released to the owner of the vehicle and under no circumstances to anyone else.
Proper usage of the Plate Tracker is crucial for tracking repeat offenders and deterring vehicle-related crimes. Adherence to these procedures ensures that state impounds are appropriately authorized and released to the vehicle's rightful owner.
This procedure provides a clear, professional, and easy-to-understand approach to the use of the Plate Tracker and state impound processes.
