Effective Date: 2023-10-17
In our Police Department, we utilize vehicles that officers purchase with their own resources. Although these vehicles are personally owned by our officers, they are designated for official duties. To maintain professionalism and adherence to standards, we have outlined guidelines for vehicle structure, customization, specialized vehicles, and parking policies. Please note that unauthorized selling of PD vehicles is strictly prohibited and will result in disciplinary actions.

Vehicle Customizations
Your vehicle is a reflection of your role, and we allow certain customizations to maintain professionalism. Here's a list of permissible customizations along with their limitations:
Livery & Paint
Livery must align with your department's vehicle policy.
Pearlescents are strictly prohibited.
You can choose between Gloss or Matte clear coats.
Wheels
You are free to select any reasonable wheel and tire options.
Bull Bars & Extras
Officers below the rank of Lieutenant are required to have all extras, with the option for a wrap-around bull bar or a normal bull bar.
Lieutenants and Captains can remove light bars and all top antennas.
Please refrain from using Underglow while on patrol.
Colored headlights are not allowed.
Upgrading vehicle internals is permitted.
Specialized Vehicles
In addition to standard patrol vehicles, the S.A.L.E maintains a roster of specialized vehicles for various certifications and specialties. Unauthorized acquisition or use of these vehicles will lead to disciplinary action. If you acquire a vehicle you are not authorized to possess, High Command may take action and seize the vehicle without compensation. Specialized vehicles, particularly those used for CID work, may have exceptions detailed in the specialization SOPs.
Parking
While on duty, you may need to park your vehicle at your department. The designated side lot and garage are the appropriate areas for parking during duty hours. We emphasize that officers should refrain from parking in front of their department, as this area serves EMS, DOJ, and civilian use. Vehicles left outside the side lot are vulnerable to theft and tampering. Non-compliance with our parking policy may result in disciplinary actions.
Side Note: In the event that the side parking is full, it is acceptable to coordinate with another officer to park in the general parking lot. However, maintaining an excessive number of cars in the side lot is unacceptable and should be avoided.
As you advance through the ranks within the S.A.L.E, your access to a diverse range of vehicles will expand. It's crucial to understand that if you experience a demotion or if there are alterations to the vehicle structure, owning a particular vehicle doesn't guarantee you can still use it. For example, if you are an LSPD SGT and purchase an F-250, but subsequently get demoted to SR. Officer, you won't be authorized to patrol in the F-250. Each department has its unique vehicle structure, and the lineup for each rank may differ. Please refer to the Vehicle Structure list [insert link]. Additionally, we offer a selection of Stock Motor pool vehicles, and a comprehensive list with Valet commands can be found below.
