Spring Green 2023

Spring Green was such a fantastic meet to be a part of. The course was beautiful, with the heavy fog and perfectly manicured grass. In total, 1,604 athletes were competing in this meet. Each division was highly competitive and exciting to watch. With the early start of our day, we were a little groggy when we arrived, but man, did we show up to run! We left Spring Green with a NEW SCHOOL RECORD, 3 MEDALS, and  22 PERSONAL RECORDS!!

-Jacob Hite - Time:18:28.9 PR, Place: 15th MEDAL.  Jake got out in front which was challenging due to the volume of runners. He has worked on his form which made an impact and his kick at the end secured his amazing time which was a huge PR for him.

-Max Vogele - Time:18:36.7 PR, Place: 18th MEDAL.  Max fought hard to hold his medal position.  He had a large pack behind him so he had to work overtime to hold the medal place. He sprinted the last 200 meters catching one last runner to secure 18th place. This was a huge PR for him. Breaking into the 18's was a goal and it's awesome that he did it!

-Spencer Cernicka -Time:19:49.9, Place: 37th. Spencer got out in front right away.  He worked hard powering up the hills.  He had a good kick at the end preventing three individuals from passing him. This was the first Hilly course Spencer ran and he did an amazing job. I'm really excited to see his progress this season.

- Aiden Noth - Time:19:53.2 PR, Place: 40th. Aiden worked hard navigating the huge pack boxing him in the initial part of the race.  He found his pace and held it even when he was charging up the hills which led to him getting a PR!  His final kick was amazing passing multiple people in the final stretch. Aiden was selected for the Spirit Award at this meet.

-Kenney Nixon - Time: 22:13.0 PR, Place: 86th. Kenny crushed his original PR.  I told the boys team that how we finish as a team rests on how many athletes we can pass not time.  He accomplished both passing a lot of people and running an incredible PR.  His kick at the end was really good and he listened when I told him to sprint.

-Joseph Zavala- Time: 24:00.0 PR, Place: 99th.  Joseph had such a phenomenal PR.  His pace was steady and his focus was excellent.  He held his form perfectly even when he got tired.  At the end his father and I encouraged him to kick and he responded really well. He finished strong all the way to the finish line.

-Dayton Oens- Time: 26:06.2 PR, Place: 102th. Dayton jumped into Varsity and held his own. This was his second ever race and he was very solid. He has been making so much progress at practice that I knew it would pay off in his race.  He did a great job helping our boys team reach 6th place.

-HS Varsity Girls Team-

Team Score: 9th out of 15 teams! Our girls team really showed up ready to run today!

Small School Division: Each school could enter their top 7 athletes, today totalling 100 runners.

-Delilah Hedden- Team: 20:48.4 PR, Place: 8th MEDAL & NEW SCHOOL RECORD! Delilah waited till the literal last minute to decide if she was running the race due to an ankle injury she suffered Monday.  She had a lot of anxiety, and felt uncertain about running on a hurt foot. With the help of Dr McNally, her coaches, and her teammates encouraging her she jumped in at the one minute countdown without any pre-race prep.  She got out front and found a good spot and held on. She had a strong kick passing a girl in the final sprint moving up to 8th place.

-Abby Christensen - Team: 23:13.0 PR, Place: 39th.  Abby got a solid PR after running one of the best races I've seen her run.  She was very focused and coachable during her race.  She continued moving up in the pack.  She didn't let the hills slow her down. She focused and passed girls on the hill. She ran so well that her first mile and her last mile weren't that far off  which is the goal of every runner. She was tired by her final kick but pushed through passing girls and preventing others from passing her.

-Chloe Bell - Team: 24:50.0 PR, Place: 56th.  Chloe really crushed her previous PR.  She had a strong initial kick putting her in a good spot at the beginning of the race.  Chloe focused on running up and down the hills passing girls every chance she could.  She maintained good form throughout the race.  She starting picking it up the last 300 meters when I told her every step needed to be faster than the last.  She had a great final sprint leading to a new PR!

-Angelina McNally - Team: 27:39.0 PR, Place: 87th.  Angelina has been making massive gains this season.  This is her strongest season by far.  Her approach to this race was effective.  She maintained a steady pace without letting the hills break it.  She charged up the hills maintaining her spot. She focused ahead of her passing multiple people throughout the course.  When we reached the last 200 meters she responded to my coaching cues and opened her stride.  She had a very strong kick that helped her obtain a new huge PR!

-Chloe Rubl-Healy - Team: 29:09.4 PR, Place: 94th. Chloe had a personal goal during this race that she met and it made all the difference in her overall time.  She maintained beautiful form even going uphill and downhill.  This is the largest race she has ever run in.  For some runners this would be intimidating, but Chloe stepped up to the occasion and ran a phenomenal race.  She helped the girls team finish 9th out of 15 teams. We are all very proud of Chloe for reaching this new PR!

-Eli Smith - Time:14:27 PR, Place: 240th.  This kids kick was out of this world!  The pure determination on his face giving it 100%.  He started sprinting with 200 meters to go. It was an all out sprint. He was passing multiple people and crushing his previous PR! I am so proud of his determination. Multiple people asked me if I saw his impressive finish and I let them know I ran with his father screaming and cheering for him as he crossed the line!

-MS Girls Team-

Team Score: N/A

ALL DIVISIONS ( D1, D2, D3) -All teams present at this meet could submit unlimited MS runners.  The top 7 were counted towards the team score.

Total Runners- 305!! This race was also very large. It was hard to get your footing for the first 300 meters.

Lydia Christensen - Time:13:13.9, Place: 178th.  Lydia was on track to PR but got boxed in by a HUGE pack of girls.  This race was so congested runners couldn't find their own pace till 800 meters in.  Lydia was notably frustrated, but used that frustration to make massive gains throughout the races passing girls uphill and downhill.  She was on a mission to regain as much as she could. She moved up a lot and really impressed her coaches.

Anelise Kumpf - Time:14:21.1 PR, Place: 231nd.  Annalise had a really strong start which set her up for an amazing race time and PR.  She responded to my premeet pep talk about the place in the start really well.  She didn't slow her pace, but got in front and held it.  I was so proud of her when I asked her to kick and she responded with the best kick I've ever seen from her.  She was in the zone and her time reflected that!

Marisa Endreas- Time: 14:49.5 PR, Place: 250th. Marisa got an awesome PR.  She really focused on her form and listened when I gave her coaching cues.  She stayed really focused while running, passing multiple girls.  At one point a runner cut in front of her on a hill almost pushing her out of the course.  She was able to accelerate quickly and get ahead of the girl before that happened. I love to see these moments because she could have slowed down but instead she refused to give up her spot.

Addy Keehan- Time: 15:27.5 PR, Place: 267th.  Addy did really well holding pace in this race.  With the volume of girls running its so important to do this.  She stayed focused chipping away at each hill.  She listened when I told her to look up ahead instead of at the ground.  She kicked really well at the end of her race.  I'm really impressed by her determination.
