Teaching flute
Teaching flute
Since January of 2024, Mr. Chi has been planning to teach an instrument to a new group of 6th grader. Apparently, one of them wanted to learn flute which is one of my specialties. I agreed to Mr. Chi's contact of me teaching the student every Wednesday 4th period. By far, it has only been a month also since this activity started so progress is not very far. The student is able to play the C Major scale but sometime still struggle to pull out the high B and C which is quite common especially for flute which is very difficult in the early days. My plan after she is able to play the entire C major scale is to teach her B flat major which will have the addition of Bb and Eb. If she can do that then she'd be able to play most of Mr. Chi's song which often comes in B flat major scale.
In all honesty, I am not a very great teacher as fat as I'm concern but I'll do my best for these few months that I have remaining to make Boonya better at flute but I'll also try to not be too harsh on her.
CAS learning outcome
Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth - I see that I am relatively skilled at playing flute while my teaching skill is somewhat lacking. This activity would allow me to simultaneously enhance my strength and reinforce my weakness and the same time.
