Assistance trip with Thai Club
Assistance trip with Thai Club
On Friday 23th of November, Wells Onnut's Thai club arranges a field trip to Santisuk Day Care Center, a school that aimed to provide an education for people with no opportunities and wealth. The trip was just a half day trip and we would arrives at school by lunch time. The main objective of this trip was to deliver the donations (food, snack and other commodities) and provide an activities for the student to enjoy.
The activity was divided into three sections: origami, bag painting, and jigsaw. I was assigned to bag painting group and was in charge of a group of student along side a few of my friends.
I was surprised by how nice and well behave most student there were. Kids these day just tends to be quite hard for someone like me to deal with. However, those students mostly stayed calm and focus on their activity and talk with their friend in a nice manner. Me and my friends talked a lot to one student name Otto and his another friend (I can't remember the name though). One thing I find strange about Otto is his habit of occasionally freezing (he just look somewhere faraway and freeze). I'm not really sure if he's just doing it as a joke or if he really have some condition. Anyhow, he activity went smoothly and everyone seems to have fun which is a great thing especially for those kids who don't really have the same opportunity in life like someone like me and everyone who could afford our school. Those children deserved better, but really, is there anything that we could do more as an individual to make give these children a better future?
CAS learning outcome
Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance - Poverty and lack of education is a serious global issue that many social enterprises & charities are striving to address. In this case, it is the school that is to thanks for taking care and give a hope for these children. Me and the Thai club's responsibility is merely to provide happiness to those children for a few short hours and a bit of supplies. It is not much but I believe that it is enough for an individual like me.
