Swimming
Swimming
Swimming has always been on my mind. Aftering running multiple times a week for a long period of time, I figured that swimming sounds much more fun than just running and it would be better to alternate between the two cardiovascular activity. Additionally, swimming work on almost your entire body which is very convenience. The only problem was that I have no access to swimming pool. I was ready to pay for a pool membership but then I just kinda realized that my family have a condo that is being rent by other people. I remember swimming there when I was very young. The swimming pool there is of fine quality with salt water (better than chlorine in my opinion) and is relatively spacious.
I tends to focus more on form and speed and for now I am trying to improves my freestyle stroke. By far, I am getting better at this stroke but doing the same thing for up to 40 minute multiple time a week is starting to become boring again. That's why I have started to look into other stroke such as breast stroke, backstroke and butterfly. There isn't much problem with breat and backstroke since I have learned these thing long ago. The butterfly stroke however, is very challenging to practice due to its dolphin kick which I have no idea how to perform. On the bright side, that would leave me with something to look forward to set new goals. In the end, excercise is all about consistency, so trying out new things can help a lot in keeping the enjoyment of doing an excercise.
The only worries I have regarding this activity is the sanitation of the swimming pool. There are quite a number of birds flying around and my mother also said that there used to be a lot of bird feces in the pool and the young me would get sick after swimming there. At this point, I've never get any sickess that have a correlaton to swimming but I think I should keep an eye out.
CAS learning outcome
Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences - When I first started, I often get frustated by how bad and slow my strokes are. I however, was determined to be add swimming to my excercise list apart from running and lifting. In the end, I persisted through the difficulties and am starting to enjoy swimming.
