Ginger Cake
One of my Mum's recipes.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tab butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tab golden syrup
- 200ml milk
- 1 1/2 cups SR flour
- 1 tsp powdered ginger
- 1 tsp mixed spice powder
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
Method:
- Cream sugar and butter
- add egg and beat well
- add syrup and milk and beat until all are combined
- fold in dry ingredients
- pour into a greased and lined loaf tin
- bake in a moderate oven until cooked when tested
- remove from tin and allow to cool
- ice with honey flavoured cream cheese frosting.
