Today we will be making a hybrid animal using Photoshop. Try to use all the tools that we have used so far (magnetic lasso, layer orders, layer styles, paintbrush, eraser, patch and healing brushes etc) to make a believable outcome.
Remember: Photoshop is a very powerful program. Don't be afraid to explore tools you haven't used yet (ie. smudge tool, blur tool…)
You must create a hybrid animal made of 3 different species of animal. (example: a snake, a rat, and a dog.) You may not use animals that are too similar (ex a rat and a mouse)
Put your creation on a background that would look believable.
Try your best to blur the areas that are between the animals so it looks correct.
You must change the color of one of the animals used to make the hybrid. The easiest way to do this is image>adjustments>hue/saturation while selecting the layer you want recolored. Check the “colorize” box and be creative!

Step 1: Image Preparation (10 minutes):
Import images into Photoshop.
Resize and position images on separate layers to create a rough composition.
Step 2: Selection & Masking (20 minutes):
Use selection tools to isolate specific animal parts (e.g., eagle wings, lion’s head).
Apply layer masks to blend the isolated parts seamlessly.
Step 3: Color Adjustments (15 minutes):
Adjust colors using Hue/Saturation, Brightness/Contrast, and Color Balance to create consistency.
Use a soft brush on the layer mask to refine edges for smooth transitions.
