If you have NOT learned Illustrator yet, you will need to go to the Intro to Illustrator page found in the menus. You will be completing these activites to help catch you up with the students that have already been working in Adobe Illustrator.
Drawing a complex design in Illustrator becomes much more efficient when you know more about the drawing tools available. Download the Drawing in Illustrator worksheet to draw your items in, follow the direction on Artboard 2. Go through the How to Draw in Illustrator guide following along in Illustrator if you need more detailed help. Turn in when completed as last name + first name + period + drawing.
Complete the following and get checked:
Draw 3 shapes and then draw lines across 1 each as normal, inside, and behind
Create a star using the live paint tool and fill with 6 colors
Create a new brush using image and use it as a art brush

Using colors when you are working is vital to using Illustrator. Download the Swatches worksheet to the right and use the guide How to Swatches file. You will be using screen shots of what you are doing and adding these to the worksheet in order to demonstrate that you can do the following:

Now that we know more about swatches, colors and libraries, we will work on using those colors to help us recolor something we have already created. Start by downloading the Recolor worksheet and then watch the video to the right. Then you will use the technique they used in the video to recolor the same image that they did in the video on your worksheet. Use the step by step directions on the Recolor Worksheet to help guide you. Make sure you chose colors that are pleasing to the eye and together.

The shaper tool is a much faster and easier way to create complex shapes in Illustrator. Start by downloading the Shaper Tool worksheet on the right and then watch the video to the right. You will use the Shaper tool to recreate the image of the mountain and moon drawing in the video tutorial. Then in the last 2 boxes, you will be creating 2 simple drawings using the shaper tool. You must use a minimum of 5 shapes for each one...think simple ideas, flowers, trees, cloud, etc... Make sure that you are combining shapes and removing at least 1 shape. Clipping Masks are a highly useful technique to have in your arsenal when using Adobe Illustrator. This can save your a huge amount of time and work depending on what you are doing. Start by downloading the Clipping Mask AI worksheet file to the right. Using the skills you were shown in class, you will look at the examples on the worksheet and create your own version. Once you have completed this, you can start your landscape design created using the skills we have learned in this unit along with the clipping mask.

Being able to easily divide, modify, or cut up objects can be a great way to work more efficiently in Adobe Illustrator. This activity will help you explore and practice using eh Eraser tool (Shift + E), the Knife Tool (C), and the Scissors Tool. For each section your goal is to modify the objects you have been given to learn to use the tools. At the bottom of the worksheet, you will need to explain the difference between each tool and how they differ.
