One of the main characters in this story is Nora Grey. She is trying to get through high school with her best friend Vee.
Nora is very careful, she likes to play it on the safe side. That is not necessarily saying she's a goodie goodie. She is in a tough spot because her dad was just murdered and her and her mom are living alone. There is also Patch... with his mysterious background he could be anything from a volunteer fireman to a masked murderer. But the truth is he's an angel well he used to be until the archangels stripped him of his wings. Now he is a fallen angel looking for a human body to control, and he's willing to kill anybody for one including Nora. "He sat slouched one table back, cool black eyes holding a steady gaze forward"Pg.10 And then there's Vee. Vee is a close shopping mall going regular teenager. but there's nothing regular about her. She is always willing to go out with any boy that she sees. Finally Elliot... in the beginning he is charming, cool and collected, but not for long Elliot also has a background that is a little iffy. He is part of something big that your going to have to read the book to find out. "He had a charming outgoing personality that didn't fade into the background" Pg.60
Nora and her mom Blythe live in a drafty eighteenth century farm house. The nearest neighbors are a mile away so it's basically in the middle of nowhere. The house was huge way to big for five people let alone two. It was also very foggy in their yard. " I sometimes wonder if the original builder realized that out of all plots of land available, he chose to construct the house in the eye of a mysterious atmospheric inversion that seems to suck all the fog off Maine's coast and transplant it into our yard."Pg.18 Another main setting is CHS (Coldwater High School). This is the school that Nora, Vee, Patch, and Elliot go to. It's a normal two floor High school. This is where another major thing happens.
The major problem in this story is that patch is a fallen angel. Patch was planning to become human, but to become human you have to sacrifice a human."Wait I see her there's a shadow behind her. Its him he's following her, she doesn't see him but he's right there... Why isn't she running? "Who" Patch demanded. "You" she whispered" Pg. 297 The archangels didn't like that, so they stripped Patch of his wings and kicked him down to earth. Now he is still trying to become human and he will kill (or sacrifice) anyone to do it, even the girl he loves the most...
But does Patch really want to go through with this? Is he willing to kill Nora to become human? Yes. The problem is elliot has different ideas for her. Elliot hasn't found out that Nora is very special. Will Patch or Elliot get to Nora first, you don't know but I do. Please read this book to find out.
This book is one of the very best books I've ever read. I would recommend this book to 6th or 7th grade and up because it has some situations that get quite inappropriate for young children. People who are into angels and action will like this book.
I hope you like this book I know I did. =) P.S This book is completely fiction...

Character Analysis:
The main character is Rafe Khatchadorian. He hated Middle School because it was like a jail, and he hated all the rules. He liked Jeanne Galletta but he didn't like any of the teachers. Miller the killer, the school bully, always picked on Rafe. Rafe is a weak 6th grader who is having trouble in school. He has an artistic imaginary friend named Leo. His mom, Jules, is a cool mom, but works all the time.
Setting
Rafe goes to Hills Village Middle School. He hates Middle School because it feels like it is jail. "It was a prison for pilgrims back then but not much has changed (p. 7)." The story also takes place at Rafe's house. His mother's boyfriend, Bear, was like a piece of furniture in the house because he always laid there with pizza, zoom and the TV remote. He liked to hang out in his messy room, where he liked to draw with Leo. This story takes place in modern time because there were iPods.
Problem analysis
In the Middle School story Rafe really hates school so he tries to break all the rules. Rafe has a notebook that has his plans for Operation Rafe, his system and his drawings about breaking all the rules. Miller the Killer, the school bully, takes his notebook and makes him pay for each page. He steals Bear's zoom to pay for the notebook, which gets him behind on breaking the rules. The teachers especially The Dragon Lady tried to mess up his plans by punishing him with detentions in the dungeon. His mom is very patient but she makes him feel guilty for his bad behavior.
Recommendation
I recommend this book because its funny and has good illustrations. I would recommend this book to middle school students because it relates to real middle school students and their problems. This book is realistic fiction. People who like books about kids who break rules will like this book.
