GOS Round Two

Last year's experience with Gloucestershire Old Spots was great - easy to deal with and delicious meat at the end of the process - we we were keeping our eyes open for some more. Unfortunately the farm we bought from last year didn't have any available and as we looked further afield it became evident that there just weren't very many pure bred or pedigree rare breed weaners out there at all.

Eventually we found some on a farm in Derbyshire and, with the first cycle of lambing out of the way, we set off one Sunday morning to collect them.

We met a lovely farming family and picked out a couple of gilts to come back with us. After somehow managing the longest bit of trailer reversing ever - well over 100 yards up a hill and down a sloping yard - they loaded up without a problem and made the journey home snuggled into a bed of straw.
