A new breed

Again this year we had problems finding any OSB weaners available at the right sort of time. After scouring adverts we found a source of Gloucestershire Old Spots not too far away and decided that they would be great to try this year.

A quick trip up to Ripon in the weeks leading up to lambing and kidding saw us pick out four little boars to join us on the farm.

Legend has it that the black spots were bruises caused by apples falling from the trees in the orchards they were kept in. So, in keeping with the story they are all named after native varieties of apple - Pippin, Russet, Codlin and Dufflin.
