Lowry Nature Center
A small off-trail section of Lowry Nature Center has been dedicated as an “exploration area”. Unlike official “play areas” within the Three Rivers Park District, this exploration area does not need to be maintained or have any built components. By having a small (1/2 acre- 3 acre) space off-trail where “damage” to the habitat can happen, children and families learn how to play outdoors while leaving only minimum impact to the environment.

* Very little of this area has been built. Three Rivers Park District requires that there should not be a fall height of more than 3 feet and trees are inspected annually for hazardous branches.
