There were more than 40 entries in the Tulsa Tribune sponsored pageant this year. 22 of the ladies competed Sunday night as "finalists." 


Miss Shunatona made quite a splash in Atlantic City as she did war-whoops and Native "stomp step" dances down the boardwalk.  However, her most impressive claim to fame is that she received the very first "Miss Congeniality" award ever given at a Miss America pageant.
