Unit 4 focuses on the world of privacy and cybersecurity, which basically means learning how to protect yourself in a world where almost everything we do online leaves a trail. From the apps we download to the links we click, our data is constantly being collected, stored, and sometimes used in ways we may not even realize.
This unit helped me think more carefully about my own digital habits. I learned that privacy is not just about “hiding something.” It is about having control over your personal information, knowing what companies collect, and understanding how that information can affect your life. Cybersecurity also connects to this because strong passwords, safe browsing, encryption, and being aware of scams can help protect us from real online threats.
Some of the major topics in this unit include digital privacy, malware, phishing, ransomware, VPNs, encryption, privacy policies, and social engineering. These topics matter because technology is part of everyday life, and staying safe online is now a basic life skill.
Unit 4 reminded me that the internet may feel quick and convenient, but it is not always private. Being aware of what I share, what I click, and how I protect my accounts helps me take back a little more control over my digital footprint.
