For this part of the assignment, I reflected on the technical skills I gained through the Office training simulations. I learned new features in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel that will help me work more efficiently in school and in my future and even current career.
Sources Manager, helps keep track of references for research papers
Automatic formatting tools, helps create citations correctly
How to properly use and explore the ribbon
Navigation Pane, makes it easier to move between sections
Styles, keeps formatting consistent throughout the document (utilized a few of these skills to better format my portfolio as well)
PowerPoint is more advanced than I realized. I learned that it is not just about making slides look nice, it can also help present information clearly and effectively.
Slide Master, allows formatting changes to all slides at once
Presenter View, shows notes while presenting
Screen recording, allows videos to be inserted directly into presentations
Theme section, helps format slides into cohesive themes
Excel seemed intimidating at first, but the SIMPath training broke everything down step by step. I learned that Excel can be used for much more than math but also organizing data, planning events , tracking trends and alot more.
Excel was on of the most difficult softwares i have encountered this semester, simply because i never had to used it the way i did this unit. Once everything was broken down i came out confident in my VERY BEGINNER level excel skills
Key Features I Discovered:
Conditional Formatting, highlights patterns and trends
Data Validation, creates dropdown lists for organization
Flash Fill, automatically fills patterns without formulas
Shortcuts to fill cells
Quick Action tool (extremely useful)
Before this assignment, I did not realize how many tools were available in Microsoft Office programs. I learned that these applications are not just for simple school assignments, they are powerful tools that can make work faster and more organized. I even learned some new tools i can utilize to help organize my everyday life.
I learned how to use diagram software to visually plan goals, which actually made my future feel more structured and achievable. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I now feel more confident using technology to support my academic success.
Honestly, I used to just click buttons and hope for the best. Now I actually understand what the tools do… which feels very adult of me.
Thse skills will definitely be helpful as I continue working toward radiology school and future career goals as well as my current career as a health professional (my files arent choatic anymore yay).
