My results showed that I definitely have some social media habits that could worsen if I don't correct it soon. I tend to check apps when I'm bored, procrastinating or trying to avoid things (like doing homework... sorry professor Noone im working on it). I also realized I sometimes open apps automatically without even thinking about it. This quiz opened my eyes to how easy it is to lose track of my screen time, although social media can be fun and interesting it can be a huge distraction if I'm not paying attention to how much time I'm on it.
A large percentage of young adults say they use social media daily with many reporting they are online daily, with many reporting they are online almost constantly.

This stat resonated with me because I feel I relate most to it. As a young adult myself I can see me and everyone around me involvement with social media. There isn't one person in my personal life who doesn't have an active social media account that just shows how intertwined it is in everdyday life.
Shown below I have included a screenshot of my phone screen time; I use this built in software to better track what apps I spend the most time on .... Last week i spent 18hrs 36m on TikTok , that's about 16% of my waking week (calculation doesn't include my typical 7/hrs. of daily sleep).
The infamous question we asked all of our math teachers, but news flash buddy this IS the real world, social media is as real as you make it.
Social media impacts how we communicate, how we see ourselves, and even how we spend times. it can influence trends, opinions and confidence levels sometimes even productivity. I don't know about you but seeing everyone constantly post high achievements and highlights reels of shiny moments in people's lives it sometimes creates a pressure to compare myself and where I am at in life. without even realizing that I may not be seeing the full reality through the lens of social media
understanding the statistics about social media use helps us become more aware of out habits instead of social media controlling our minds. being aware and conscious of our use we can make intentional choices about why and how we use it. I don't argue that social media is bad but that we need to create a healthy balance between online and offline realities
Before this lesson I rarely ever care to put much thought into the amount of time I spend on social media, but seeing my numbers did kind of wake me up a little. Seeing with proof how "just a few minutes" turns into hours of cat videos and tik Toks without even realizing. i learned that social media is designed to keep you engaged, which explains why it's so easy to get trap in the black hole that is the internet.
