Lesson Plan- Rules by Cynthia Lord
I conducted this lesson plan based on Cynthia Lord's book, Rules. I created it through Google Docs with guidance from my professor. This lesson plan incorporated the I, We, Me method through development, independent practice, and guided practice.
This lesson plan can be related to several domains in the Danielson framework. However, I believe that this lesson can best be connected to domains 3 and 4. Domain 3A is demonstrated throughout this lesson by stating the objectives and clarifying the lesson's goal/objectivities to the students. Domain 3B of the Framework is shown throughout this lesson using question and discussion techniques. The teacher will ask the students questions regarding the book they have read, and the students are responsible for accurately discussing and answering the questions. This lesson's independent and guided practice aspect engages the student with the lesson, which correlates to domain 4C of the Framework. The formative and summative assessment defined at the end of the lesson is where domain 4D of the Framework could come into play within this lesson by testing the students' knowledge. The teacher should demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness by opening the discussion freely, which correlates to domain 3E.
Domain four could also be related to this lesson through teacher self-reflection at the end of the lesson. The first reflection question section concerns whether the students have read the text: When contributing to class discussions, were the students able to answer correctly? The second reflection section is regarding the teacher: Did I make my objective clear and speak in a way that did not offend students' home lives? Did I provide enough text content to help the students with family relationships? Did I help these future educators become more aware of things they can prevent in classrooms?
