gelatin prints

When we did these in class, each student chose a collection of objects from Mrs. Medsker’s box of random goodies, which we composed onto a slab of gelatin covered in ink, and printed onto paper. We would print one with all the pieces on the gelatin, the next with the objects removed and any residual ink left and then a final print to get any last ink that may have been left behind. We all came out with like twenty prints each and they look pretty freaking cool. The next class, I came in with a few pieces of paper I had cut into very thin, pretty detailed leaves, to use as stencils, which almost came out well, but most of them broke pretty quick. Had I known they would be so fragile, I would have made the leaves out of card stock and taken more time to make a really neat composition, maybe with multiple pieces of gelatin to make something bigger. I also would have liked to try messing around with different colors and layers on the same print.
