This was another studio assignment in which we had to make a self portrait, showing a distinct emotion. This was the first charcoal piece I ever did and it was really fun to make. It also just came together on it’s own; I wasn’t thinking about the end result. I’m sure this was my overall mood at the time of creation. There are a few parts that I would change slightly, including blending the background more and adding more emphasis as needed, but otherwise I am really surprised at how well this came out.
